Of all the bizarre things that I've picked up and held onto over the years, one of my favorites is a baseball sized quartz-like chunk of glass cullet I found in a field outside a bottle factory when I was a little girl. I have always been drawn to translucence.
I started working in glass and lighting in the 1990s in Portland, Oregon and Brooklyn, New York after studying ceramics at Lewis & Clark College and Penland School of Crafts. I was very lucky to find generous, patient, and quirky mentors in the artists and craftspeople who hired a 20-something free-spirited me.
Throughout the years and different careers since, what I make has shifted based on my studio space, my head space, and available time and resources. What hasn't changed is my love for the puzzle of crafting objects with light and layers.
